Application for Experiential Learning Fund from Faculties

Subsequent to the establishment of the Gallant Ho Experiential Learning Centre in March 2012 with a generous donation from Dr. Gallant Ho, a Management Committee has been set up to oversee the allocation of funding to support experiential learning activities in the Faculties and the provision of support for student preparation and assessment of learning. The Director of GHELC has been recruited and is now in post. He will be joined by two Teaching Consultants shortly.

The Management Committee of GHELC invites Faculties to submit proposals for financial support for the purpose of introducing, expanding or enhancing experiential learning in their undergraduate curricula. The application guidelines and template are attached (document 335/612).

2.            There are two rounds of applications annually:

(a)       January / Main Round - for experiential learning projects to take place in the summer and the September term; and

(b)       May / Clearing Round - for experiential learning projects to take place in the January term.

As this is the first year the Experiential Learning Fund is made available, a special round is introduced this summer to support projects / activities which have already been planned for September term. Hence, there are three deadlines for experiential learning projects taking place in 2012-14:

(a)       August 15, 2012 and September 28, 2012 - for projects in 2012-13

(b)       May 15, 2013 - for projects in 2013-14.

Applications should be submitted to Dr. Albert Ko, Director of GHELC, c/o CEDARS (e-mail: albertko@hku.hk) by the respective deadlines.
