The Next Homeland
The Next Homeland

Once, ‘homeland’ was associated with beautiful pastoral landscapes, the place to rest a weary soul and a shelter from the storm. Today, it is engulfed by global warming, income disparity, food shortages, energy crises, and all sorts of disasters. CNEX and GE co-present 5 selected documentaries to challenge the orthodoxy of the current model of development — is this model sustainable for building the homeland we desire? Is the homeland we desire a sustainable one? Guest speakers will join the post-screening discussion. Details will be announced shortly.

All’s right with the World

Hip-Hop Storm

Please Vote for Me

My Fancy High Heels

No Impact Man
Documentary Screening (20 Feb 2012)

Documentary Screening (12 Mar 2012)

This documentary traces the footsteps of a pair of name-brand high-heeled shoes, from the border ofChinaandRussiato the streets of Manhattan, from an impoverished farm town and the sanguinary spectacle of slaughtered cows and skinned hides, to the fashionable, prosperous metropolis. In the spring, the hide of the calves have just been skinned, and the woman assembly-line worker meticulously touches up every last detail of the shoes. By winter of the same year, those tiny details can be seen on the feet of a fashionable woman inNew York City.
