Future Defender of Justice and the People
A burning desire to serve the community is the defining characteristic of Kwong Chi Ho, a fourth-year student studying double majors in Social Sciences (Government & Laws) and Laws. Alex was one of the recipients of the Outstanding Service Awards for Tertiary Students in 2017-18. His lengthy list of accomplishments indicated that his university life was well spent contributing himself to society and developing himself in the different ways. This fruitful journey included different types of experience, for example, in the Law Association, HKUSU, ICAC Ambassador Programme, internship at Hulu Culture and the emcee role at the University Life Trio. In essence, Alex serves the community with pride and grasps every opportunity offered.
One of the impactful takeaways to Alex as being the Vice-Chairperson of the Law Association, HKUSU was to develop a sense of personal accountability. Copious amounts of deliberation and liaison with different people were needed in every decision making during the planning of Law Freshmen Orientation. He learnt that patience is a virtue from this experience. When something goes wrong, one is on the first half mile to success. Another half mile will be achieved with teamwork and an open-minded attitude.
“Law permeates every layer of society, from the simplest actions we take in everyday life to the toughest ethical decisions we have to make.”
ICAC ambassadorship fueled a mission for Alex to assist people from all walks of life with the knowledge he gained at the university. “Law permeates every layer of society, from the simplest actions we take in everyday life to the toughest ethical decisions we have to make,” said Alex.
