“Special Music Troop” is a Hong Kong voluntary group that was established in response to the May 12 Earthquake of Sichuan. Through music and arts therapy, the group provided mass counselling to 20,000 earthquake victims between May and June, and stimulated community engagement in several settlement areas ranging from 1,500 to 55,000 residents between July and December. What started out as a small group of 5 musicians has now brought almost 300 volunteers from Hong Kong to Sichuan.

Real-life experience is a key element in preparing you for a career. Voluntary work can equip you with leadership and organisational skills and nurture you into a well-rounded individual.

An impressive CV is built not only on one’s professional training but also on personal qualities and development in leadership, innovation, crisis management and communication, etc. which can best be acquired through “volunteerism”.
