What’s interactive theatre? What’s the relationship between the audience, theatre and game players? The cross-media artist, Jing Wong, will address these questions in the talk and he will share together with the two performers about their exchange experience at the Boomtown Festival in the UK last summer.

Jing Wong
Jing Wong (Cross-media Artist / Artistic Director)

Jing Wong
graduated as a Theatre Designer and Director in London's Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design with First-class Honours, Jing Wong went on to create a Fashion Theatre brand with his sister Kay called Daydream Nation in 2007. He has released a total of 6 albums/eps and has toured 30 cities in China. He played at Music Festivals such as the Clockenflap, Wow and Flutter and Freespace Happening. He was also invited to play in Adelaide's OZAsia Festival in 2016, Zandari Festival and PAMS festival in Seoul 2017. His songs were featured in films by Ann Hui and Heiward Mak. He is also a keen educator who taught young musicians regularly in events organised by the Renaissance Foundation and ‘Every Life is a Song’. A Theatre Concert/Concept Album “A Spy in the House of Love” released and performed in November 2018 is signalling his return to his Theatre roots, where he explores how Music and Theatre can collide in more artistic and creative formats.

2019, Jing Wong Creations Limited (JWC) has been founded to explore different possibilities of storytelling through music and multi-disciplinary performing art forms and aiming to develop young grooming artists in Hong Kong.

2021 JWC Created a 2 year Music x Tap x Devising Theatre project “Music Theatre Laboratory
: Journey” was successfully accomplished with HAB’s Arts Capacity Fund. Including a 3- night full house show of “ The Drifters” held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre with a Vinyl album “On Departure” launched.

Jing has now started a PhD doing Research at City University on how Video and Board Games inform the Future of Storytelling in Theatre.

Cal
Calvin (Performer)

Calvin has been dancing for more than ten years focussing on tap and folk dance and was engaged in over 400 performances. He has visited The UK, The States, Germany, Sweden, Russia and Taiwan to further his learning on tap dance. He attained the ISTD National Dance Associate. He is also a Dance tutor in primary and secondary schools. He has founded STEP OUT Studios at Taipo Arts Centre. Motto is 'step out of the comfort zone, step out to the world.’ Calvin was one of the key performers and Tap dance consultant of ACDFS funded shows “The Drifters” in 2021.


Zoe
Zoe (Performer)

Zoe is currently a freelance performer, dance & musical theatre tutor, and the deputy director of

STEP OUT Studios.
She has received professional musical theatre and dance training from the Bird College in the UK, and performed various kinds of theatre and commercial performances local and overseas, e.g. Canada, Australia, Beijing, Macau etc.
Zoe has worked with different professional local and international companies/artists, like Hong Kong and Macau Arts Festival, Ontroerend Geod (Belgium), OzAsia Arts Festival (Australia), Tai Kwun, ViuTV, Olivia Yan (HK Director), David Glass (UK), Hong Kong International Airport, HKAPA, HMV Hong Kong and more. She has also featured in some MVs, commercials and short films.
