Summary 內容: Technologies bring us lots of wonders and convenience. They are everywhere around us and inevitably part of our daily lives. But the more we rely on them, the more they take over our private lives. Some of the most popular technologies today will help us in many ways while they also invade your private lives without you even knowing it.  Can the technology itself or the laws protect our personal privacy?
Specific topics that will be explored including: the Internet, social networking websites and services, technologies of mobile and smart phones, internet surveillance, cyberbullying and public prosecution.

Bio of Speaker(s) 講者簡介: Mr. Chester Soong
Chester received his Bachelor’s degree with double major in Information Systems and Finance from The California State University, Fullerton, and Master of Law degree in IT & IP Laws from The University of Hong Kong. He is currently the Managing Director of Security Consulting Services Ltd and has been providing information security and personal data privacy consultancy services since 1995. Chester was formerly the Director of Certification Services and Co-Chair of the Asia Advisory Board of (ISC)², a professional body that has been certifying IT security professionals since 1989 for the Asia Pacific Region. He has been working in the ISP industry by starting his own ISP outfit back in 1994.


Dr. K.P. Chow
Dr. Chow is the Associate Professor of Department of Computer Science and the Associate Director of the Center for Information Security and Cryptography at HKU.  His areas of research interest are computer forensics, cryptography, computer security, Internet surveillance and privacy. He was the chief designer of the computer forensic tool Digital Evidence Search Kit (DESK).  Dr. Chow has analyzed various data leakage cases in Hong Kong, which includes the IPCC case in 2006, the Foxy/Edison cases and the Yahoo case in 2008. Findings and results were presented in local seminars and international conferences with participants from legal and IT professions.
