Summary 內容: | Lost among headlines about regional tensions, economic restructuring attempts and internal power struggles, are the needs of the most vulnerable in North Korea – people with disabilities. In this session, Ms. Katharina Zellweger will illustrate how the changing North Korea has started to take care of its people with disabilities based on her experience and involvement in humanitarian aid and development projects in the DPRK since 1995. Bio of Speaker(s) 講者簡介: | Ms. Katharina Zellweger Katharina Zellweger has been involved with humanitarian aid and development projects in the DPRK since 1995 and has made over 60 trips to the country. She has lived in Pyongyang for five years, from 2006 to 2011 heading the office for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. After her work in the DPRK, she spent two academic years at the Asia Pacific Research Center at Stanford University as a resident fellow and is currently a visiting fellow at the Center for International Security and Cooperation. She is now engaged in the process of establishing an NGO that will focus on assisting people with disabilities and children in institutions in the DPRK. |
