| Summary 內容: | Being the first Carnatic musician to be nominated for an Oscar, Bombay Jayashri has brought the classical music of Southern India to a global centre-stage. Carnatic music is characterised by passionate vocals and melodic songs. In this concert, Bombay Jayashri, together with an ensemble of percussionists and violinist, will take the audience on a journey of appreciating the aesthetics in Indian music. Performers: Mrs. Bombay Jayashri Ramnath Mrs. Bombay Jayashri Ramnath is an accomplished Carnatic vocalist, music composer, writer, and 2013 Oscars Nominee for Best Original Song – Pi’s Lullaby in Ang Lee’s International Hit Life of Pi. Jayashri was born in Calcutta into a family of music connoisseurs and musicians. While growing up in Mumbai, she started training in Carnatic music under the guidance of her parents Seetha and N. N. Subramaniam. She has performed at various festivals and venues all across India and in over twenty different countries, including the US, UK, Switzerland, France, Finland, and Spain. Mr. Bylahally Seetharam Purushotam (Kanjira Artist) Mr. B. S. Purushotham is one of the most sought-after percussion artist in India. He has been an accompanist to famous artists from India. He regularly accompanies Smt Bombay Jayashri in her concerts in India and abroad. Mr. Narayana Siva Manoj Siva (Mridangam Artist) Mr. Manoj Siva is a prominent artiste in India and has participated in prestigious music festivals across India and worldwide. His brilliant fingering technique is developed through years of training since the age of 6, and he was trained under the renowned Mridangam Maestro Sangitha Kalanidhi Sri Palghat Raghu. Mr. Venkataraman Srikanth (Violinist) Mr. Venkataraman Srikanth is a senior disciple of Mr. H.K. Narasimhamurthy of Mysore. He started learning violin and vocal in the South Indian classical (Carnatic) style at a very young age. Srikanth is a well-established violin accompanist and has gained rich experience playing alongside other top artists.
