Summary 內容: | A straight-A top student in Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination, unlike many of her peers who pursued to study laws or medicine, she decided to enroll in journalism. That's all because of the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003 in Hong Kong, which demonstrated how the power of journalism can change the society. In 2016, Ms. Fion Li became the first native and the youngest Hong Kong bureau chief in Bloomberg, a global information and technology company. In this talk, Fion will share her experiences working for an international news organisation and how she became bureau chief. Fion will also share her enthusiasm towards journalism and the media industry and how they have shaped her life and contributed to her fulfilment and accomplishments. Bio of Speaker(s) 講者簡介: | Joined in 2011, Fion Li is now the Hong Kong Bureau Chief at Bloomberg News. The bureau is the company's biggest in Asia and the third-largest in the world with 200 journalists. Being the youngest and the first native bureau chief, Fion had covered Asian currencies and bonds and she was in the frontline reporting on Hong Kong's Occupy Central protests in 2014. Fion was in the inaugural class of Bachelor of Journalism at The University of Hong Kong and she is an alumna of St. John's College. She spent a year in an exchange programme at University of Maryland in the United States. In 2007, she graduated with First Class Honors and joined Thomson Reuters as a news assistant in its Chinese-language team. |
