Under OCTS, Hong Kong’s systems, values, culture, and external ties provide the city with various possibilities for development. Yet, as the economic and political situations of the two actors change, problems arise as to how the two systems might continue to produce mutual benefits and how Hong Kong will maintain its uniqueness and internationality. Hong Kong is now at the half-way point of its way of life remainig ‘unchanged for 50 years’. What, then, is the value of OCTS for each side, and what will happen as the years roll on?
In this session, guests will share their experience, review how they enriched the content and meaning of the Hong Kong ‘system’ by leveraging the room OCTS provides and how they strengthened Hong Kong’s value to mainland China and the world. Looking ahead, what values should Hong Kong preserve and develop?
