Urban Farming as a Method – Building a Sustainable and Resilient Future

More and more people are living in cities—it is projected that over two-thirds of world’s population will live in urban areas by 2050. But for decades, we were not aware of the adverse impact of urbanisation on the environment, and thus on our well-being, due to excessive development and inadequate planning. Amongst an array of issues, the shrinking workforce in rural agriculture poses risks to food security and cities relying on imports from limited sources. Urban farming is one way to alleviate such a problem. Innovative methods are developed to produce food in compact city spaces, and edible landscapes have gained in popularity over the years. In this forum, speakers will discuss how urban farming can help to build a sustainable and resilient future.
