Reading local newspapers may give people an impression that Hong Kong is chaotic and full of negative emotions. On the other hand, Hong Kong ranks high in international surveys on economic prosperity and a number of other indexes. Who is telling the truth? In the era of information overload, ‘views’ are more valuable than ‘news’ in the world of journalism. But when ‘views’ overflow, we need to equip ourselves with knowledge and critical thinking to understand the truth. In this salon, Mr. Chan King Cheung, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Economic Journal, will guide us through a thought-provoking journey towards becoming independent intellectuals.

每天讀新聞，總覺得香港吵吵鬧鬧、一塌糊塗，像快要沉淪的景象，然而從經濟數據和國際排名來看，香港其實並不差，更遠比世界其他大城市要好得多。
互聯網年代資訊泛濫，有人說新聞業的news不再值錢；views才有價值，但現在是news和views都愈來愈濫，要了解事實、認清真相，除了多看，還要多想，反省批判，才能不受擺佈、人云亦云，做一個獨立自主的現代知識人。

短片《香港將於33年後毀滅》講述國家氣象局發現一顆小行星的軌跡，將有可能於33年後擊中香港，於是大財團撤資，三分之二港人移民，香港人該如何自處？

‘Hong Kong will be destroyed after 33 years’ ?
Mr. Chan King Cheung, instructor of GE’s Salon on Politics and Economics, has invited the team of G.V.A. Creative to join a discussion on Hong Kong’s future.
The short film ‘Hong Kong will be destroyed after 33 years’ is circulated furiously on the Internet recently. It tells a story about how different Hong Kong people face the problem when it is forecasted that an asteroid will hit Hong Kong in 2047.

Bio of Instructor(s) 導師簡介:
陳景祥畢業於香港中文大學，先後於1983年取得文學士學位，1993年獲得哲學碩士（傳播）學位，並在2001年獲工商管理碩士。1985年加入新聞界，曾經在
報章、通訊社及電台工作，及至1986年加入《信報》，1993年任副總編輯，2003年出任總編輯，2010年獲委任為董事。為配合數碼化發展，陳景祥在2013年改任信報數碼媒體總裁及副社長，並繼續出任董事。公職方面，陳先生於2006年獲委任為公共廣播服務檢討委員會成員，於2010年獲委任為證監會的「投資者教育委員會」及「產品諮詢委員會」成員，同年獲特區政府頒授銅紫荊星章。
