Organic farming not only helps us to reconnect with the Nature, but also unleash our creativity to achieve the goal of sustainability. ‘Chop Chop Farm’ is an urban agriculture workshop that uses old chop boards from a martial arts school to create planters and signage for the HKU Rooftop Farm and street planters for the neighbourhood.
This workshop encourages students to reuse waste materials and to connect with the local community in creative and engaging ways.
Activities include:
- Introduction and tour of HKU Rooftop Farm
- Introduction to urban agriculture in Hong Kong
- Chop Chop Farm planter making
- Soil and seedling planting information
- Planter signage making and graphic design
- Street sign planter making, watering device making and community engagement
- Postcard making for other HK rooftop farms

Bio of Instructor(s) 導師簡介:

Michael Leung is a designer, beekeeper and urban farmer at HK Farm, Yau Ma Tei. He focuses on socio-cultural and environmental projects that are inspired by people and the Hong Kong context and urban environment. Michael is the founder and creative director of HK Honey—an organisation of Hong Kong beekeepers, artists and designers that aim to communicate the value of bees and benefits of locally produced honey. He is also the co-founder with Martin Cheung of Shanghai Street Studios – a creative platform that engages the Yau Ma Tei community through creative and socio-cultural projects.
