GE2016-66A/B/C
‘Freeloader’, ‘Kong child’, ‘Dokuo’… maturing in a mix of reality and ideal, the post-90s generation is rejected by the era that ironically created it. Facing a seemingly hopeless future, will the despair of young people be exploited? Apart from burning down everything to return to nothingness and to indulge in self-hypnosis, is there a means to live hard-headedly and at the same time decently? It is only when the generation faces up to its problems can they gain the opportunity to find their voice.
Enrolment at counters (for HKU students only) starts at 10:00 on 19/1 (Thu), at K.K. Leung Concourse.

Commentating in An Information Bubble
Events such as Brexit and the election of Trump have surprised netizens across the globe. 正能量
Politically-pertained Positivity
Youngsters’ social grievances have reached a critical point: they are oppressed by powers as their futures remain uncertain; they are sick of the carnivalised “leftard” thinking, but they are unable to organise a new round of protest. Facing the cruel reality, dreams have become castles in the air. If this situation endures, the opportunity of youngsters to change their fates will vanish. Thus, they must find the courage to accept failures to avoid falling into the pitfalls of fear.
Speakers:

The Unbearable Kitsch of Art
The popular culture nowadays is full of banality and ostentatiousness. At the same time, ‘parody’ has become a form of art to combat the totalitarian ideology. How should we understand the role and function of art in contemporary society?
