Born and raised in Hong Kong, Kung Chi Shing is a composer, performer, and music activist.
As an artist, Kung has collaborated frequently with choreographers, directors and theatre artists. In his compositions and performances, he focuses on experimentation with different formats, including classical, pop, improvisational music, and theatre art. Kung is known particularly for his work in the music and performance group ‘The Box’, which he founded with Peter Suart in 1987.
As a curator, since 2009, KUNG started to organise the ‘Street Music Series’ of free public concerts which to discover and nurture new music talents and to bring music to new audiences outside of established formats, venues and channels.
In addition to the continuous monthly free outdoor concerts, since 2014, Kung started to provide music education to the community, and collaborated with professional musicians and artists to curate concerts and workshops at local schools and different community centers.
Now, being an Artistic Associate (Music) in West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, he aims to provide different platforms for established and emerging artists to present their work, and to organise exchange programs for international artists to share their experience with Hong Kong artists and audiences and vice versa.
In this talk, Kung will share his artistic and curatorial paths from The Box to Street Music and community concerts to West Kowloon, all the experiments of his musical journey.

Bio of Instructor(s) 導師簡介:
龔志成先生 Mr. Kung Chi-shing香港作曲家、表演者、音樂文化推廣人。龔氏於美國隨Allen Trubitt 及George Crumb學習古典音樂及作曲，他與彼得小話在1987年成立了「盒子」樂隊，自2009年起他致力組織免費街頭音樂會系列「開放音樂」。在過去二十多年內，龔氏的作品反映出他對不同的音樂風格及現代劇場藝術方面的探索及實驗，自1996年起，龔氏的個人音樂劇場作品有《行行重行行》、《浮橋》、《迷走都市》、《M園》及《迷走都市II》。他經常與編舞家、劇場導演及表演藝術家合作，作品曾於香港、台灣、日本、古巴、塔什干、紐約、倫敦、柏林及威尼斯發表及演出。龔氏的個人音樂專輯繼有《行行重行行》、《Bluesilence / Fishdreams》，而「盒子」樂隊專輯則有《盒子番屋企》、《The Box：Full Fathom Five》及盒子樂隊二十周年出版的全集《盒子經》。
