鹽田梓是位於西貢的一個離岸小島，是香港少有的天主教客家村落，擁有近三百年歷史，以往以造鹽業及農業為生。雖因居民遷離至1990年代人去樓空，但島上遺留下來的豐富文化蘊藏，包括古蹟文物、鹽田遺址、宗教和客家歷史甚至自然生態都很值得探索。近年該島村民後代推動各項的保育及活化工程，希望將昔日鹽田梓的面貌重新展現；島上的聖若瑟小堂及鹽田復修均分別獲頒聯合國文物保護獎的項目。
這個為期兩日一夜的體驗營，同學將會探索鹽田梓的歷史文化足跡，活動包括：漫步古璞鄉村、參觀古蹟建築、體驗產鹽製作，及了解客家及天主教文化的深遠影響等。
Yim Tin Tsai, an offshore island in Sai Kung, was once home to a Hakka community embracing the Catholic faith. The village economy mainly revolved around salt-making and agriculture. With around 300 years of history, the whole island was completely abandoned by the 1990s. The Island’s restored Catholic church and the revived salt pans have won the UNESCO awards.
In this 2-day-1-night camp, you will explore the rich Hakka, religious culture and the heritage as well as enjoy the tranquility of nature on the Island through a series of activities, including heritage walks, hands-on salt making workshop, Hakka steamed bun making, and rural living experience.
