嗨，你好，
           
十四歲那年，我看了一部叫《梁山伯與祝英台》的電影，雖然早在十歲到十二歲，外語電影如《兩小無猜》（Melody）、《人細鬼大》（Friends）已走進我的視野，但把主題聚焦在Puppy Love上的它們，反而不及《梁山伯與祝英台》裏刻劃的「同窗之誼」令我着迷。然而萬萬也沒想到，這部電影對我的影響那麼深遠——二零一四年我創作的第一部音樂劇，劇本和十八首歌曲的歌詞都由我編寫，它就是《梁祝的繼承者們》。靈感既是來自少年時代的邂逅，也包含它在很多方面對我的啟蒙，例如，梁祝之中，誰是我？我是誰？
 
同一個問題，對於正在成長的你，會因為看過某部電影而獲益良多嗎？它是《哈利波特》（Harry Potter）？《蜘蛛俠》（Spider-Man）？《冰雪奇緣》（Frozen）？還是《小婦人》（Little Women）？《不得鳥小姐》（Lady Bird）？《凡事哈》（Frances Ha）？抑或，讀到這裏，你已在反問，為甚麼這些例子都是外語電影，並且都是來自荷里活？
 
世界這麼多人，成長故事應該多不勝數，只是每個人在面對自己的各種不確定時，也曾幻想這個我在世界上不會總是無助的一個人。荷里活或有不斷發放「它」比我們更了解我們自己的訊息，英雄、公主，就算寂寞，也是在他人羨慕崇拜的目光裏，但個人成長若是以集體的儀式代替，豈不代表從今以後身邊周圍還是需要很多⋯⋯「觀眾」？豈不代表自己的成長，也要像一部受大眾歡迎的⋯⋯「超級大片」？
 
成長與電影，電影與我們，我們與成長，是怎樣的三角關係？如果我想和你就這關係有所交流，形式是你跟我分享一部陪你長大的電影，我也跟你分享一部陪我長大的電影，你覺得我們會因此而更加認識甚麼是成長嗎？你覺得在這過程裏，我們會從一定的距離找到意外的交匯嗎？你覺得我們會因為探索甚麼是成長而有所成長嗎？在這過程裏，你覺得我有可能是陪你在成長路上走一程的伴嗎？你有可能是讓我繼續有所成長的靈感嗎？

When I was 14 years old, I watched a movie called The Love Eterne (Liang Zhu) and I was obsessed with the friendship depicted in the movie; even though I had known these puppy love movies – Melody and Friends when I was at the age 10 to 12. Nevertheless, I never imagined that this film would have such a profound impact on me – I produced my first musical, Art School Musical, in 2014. The script and the lyrics of the 18 songs in the musical were both written by me. Inspiration did not only come from the encounter in my boyhood, but also the movie’s enlightenment to me in many aspects, for example, in The Love Eterne, who is me? Who am I?

To you as a youngster who’s growing up, have you ever learnt a lot from watching a movie? Is it Harry Potter? Spider-Man? Frozen? Or Little Women? Lady Bird? Frances Ha? Or you may question why these examples are all foreign films from Hollywood?
 
There are so many people in the world and there should be countless stories about coming of age. When we faces our uncertainties, there are times that we thought that “I am not alone, and I am not helpless.” Hollywood may continuously spread this message to audience that "it" understands us better than us. Heroes and princesses, even if they are lonely, they are living in the eyes of others with envy and admiration. However, if personal growth is replaced by collective rituals, does it mean that from now on, we need a lot of “audience” in the future? Does it mean that your growth needs to be a "super blockbuster"?
 
What is the relationship between growth and movies, movies and us, and us and growth? If I would like to communicate with you about this relationship through exchange of movies that grew up with us, do you think we will know more about growth? Do you think that during our exchange, we will find unexpected intersections on our separate roads? Do you think we will grow by exploring what growth is? In this process, do you think that I may be your companion on the journey of growth? Could you possibly be the inspiration for me to continue to grow?
