「堅詞 gin1 ci4」創作於 2022年首辦，邀請了資深流行音樂作詞人，透過研討會和工作坊，分享他們在創意和歌詞創作方面的經驗和見解。除此之外，還舉辦了第一屆的歌詞創作比賽。同學反應熱烈，收到超過70份原創及改編作品，當中的11份作品更於得獎作品分享音樂會中表演。除由得獎同學及學生團體演繹作品外，我們亦邀請了歌手黃妍（Cath Wong）、音樂人楊智遠（Siu Yuen）表演優秀歌曲。
為進一步鼓勵創作歌詞及提高學生對中英文歌詞創作的興趣與欣賞，《「堅詞」創作》將舉辦第二屆歌詞創作比賽，提供學生一個平台，在校内發表作品。
歌詞創作比賽歡迎所有港大學生參加，學生可以就現有流行歌曲改編歌詞，或提交原創作品（包括詞曲），音樂種類不限。由專業評審挑選的優秀作品享有發表機會，在2024年初的作品分享音樂會，《「堅詞」創作》將邀請專業歌手及學生團體表演得獎作品；另外得獎者也可以表演自己的作品。
Keen Lyricist Quest was first held in 2022. Seasoned practitioners in the popular music industry were invited to share their experience and insights into creativity and lyrics writing through a series of seminars and workshops. In addition, the First Lyrics Writing Competition was organised with an overwhelming response received from students. Over 70 entries of original and adapted lyrics were submitted and 11 outstanding pieces were performed by the winning students, professional singers, Cath Wong and Siu Yuen, and student groups at the Outstanding Works Showcase.
To further encourage lyrics writing and enhance students’ interest and appreciation of the use of language in the art of lyrics writing, in both Chinese and English, we are going to organise the Second Lyrics Writing Competition this year to provide a platform for students to publish their works at HKU.
All HKU students are welcome to submit their works to the Lyrics Writing Competition. The submission can be written based on existing pop songs (adaptation) or original music. All music genres are welcome.
The outstanding works selected by the professional jury will be published at our Outstanding Works Showcase in Spring 2024. Professional singers and student groups will be invited to perform the winning works; the winners can also perform their own works.

* There will be one Champion, one 1st Runner up, and one 2nd Runner up for each competition category.
* All winners will be awarded a certificate. If the winning works are submitted by co-creators, the co-winners shall decide on the distribution of prize.
Guidelines on submission of work:
1. This competition is open to current HKU students only.
2. The entries are divided into 2 groups – Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English. The submission can be written based on existing songs (adaptation) or original music. All music genres are welcome.
3. Each student can submit up to 2 entries. For students who have submitted more than 2 entries, the 3rd submitted works will NOT be reviewed. In case you have encountered any technical problems during submission and wish to re-submit your files, please contact CEDARS-GE at gened@hku.hk by stating your full name and UID.
4. For group work, please state all the co-creators in your submission, and all of them should be current HKU students.
5. Previously published works are not accepted.
6. Any types of the following entries shall be disqualified in the competition:
i) Any form of plagiarism
ii) Any entries that infringe the copyright of any third party
iii) Any entries that contain content of violence, obscenity and profanity
iv) Any entries that may be insulting, defamatory or discriminatory
v) Any entries that may be commercial-driven promoting someone, some products or services, etc.
7. All final submissions may be published on the website, social media platforms, and /or other digital / web-based platforms of CEDARS-GE for promotional and archival purposes.
8. In case of any disputes, CEDARS-GE reserves the right of final decision.
