The Singing Revolution
portrays how, between 1987 and 1991, hundreds of thousands of Estonians gathered publicly to sing forbidden patriotic songs and share protest speeches, risking their lives to proclaim their desire for independence and end decades of Soviet occupation. The concepts of freedom, independence, and nonviolent resistance with reference of the Estonian history will be discussed. This event is the second session of GE programme ‘Above One Country, Under Two Systems’.
