Music Salon: Dear Music

Music Salon: Dear Music
Music has been one of our most indispensable and intimate friends during this pandemic year of isolation and solitude, fear, and worry. Although we’re still bound to host our salons via online platforms, this gathering of music-lovers and sharing our favourite music and stories sounds more precious than ever.
Riding on the theme of "Dear ____", we would like to curate 3 sessions to welcome students with different tastes and interests to meet fellow-music-lovers.

Jocelyn Chan 陳明憙

Jocelyn Chan is a singer-songwriter and certified sound healing practitioner from Hong Kong. Growing up in five very different cities, music is her universal language. After her demo “October Snow” was discovered for use in 2015 Chinese film “Les Aventures D’Antony”, Jocelyn debuted officially in 2016 and has since released 3 original albums, singing in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, with works appearing in over 10 TV/Movie projects.

Being a huge David Bowie fan, Jocelyn is inspired by his energetic music, soulful lyrics and chameleon artistry. She aspires to be as label-less but socially impactful in her own career. She hopes her music and sound therapy training can provide healing for audiences, and following the success of last year's environmental awareness single "Bliss", she will continue campaigning for conservation with her voice.

MouseFX
In Hong Kong, the name ‘MouseFX’ is synonymous with Cantonese Reggae, as the Hong Kong-based singer-songwriter combines the essence of the ‘music of love and humanity’ with his mother tongue.
Over the years, MouseFX has shared his signature sound across South China and beyond, with performances at events such as One Love Reggae & Ska Festival (UK), SONAR Hong Kong, Clockenflap, Wow & Flutter, Hong Kong International Reggae Ska Festival and AnBeng Reggae Beach Festival (Vietnam).
During a trip in Jamaica in February 2019, he recorded an EP "Mousefx In Jamaica", produced by "Skunga" Kong. The vinyl EP released 4th Sept 2020.

Jude Tsang 曾若華

JUDE was born on 5th September 1992 in Hong Kong. She moved to England for her studies when she was 8. At the age of 18, she studied Fashion Photography at London College of Fashion. In 2013, Jude sent in demos she wrote to Warner Music Hong Kong which then landed her a contract signed as an artist. In July 2015, her 1st debut single "Glasgow" is released. The song bears a different style with alternative rock arrangement - bringing a breath of fresh air to the Hong Kong music scene.
Being located amidst London's rich music culture, JUDE was influenced by different kind of music and concerts during her time in England, and she started photographing for bands during live performances. She was encouraged to pick up a guitar after listening Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch's music. At the age of 17, she began to write her own materials and uploaded covers on YouTube.

Michael C

A frequent winner in music competitions in high school and university, Michael C was talent scouted as a singer-songwriter and made his debut in April 2020.  His debut Mandarin single "Foolish Man (愚公)" was well-received amongst releases of newcomers, and charted Top 5 on local radio charts.  He released two more Mandarin singles in 2020, including "Frequency of Love (對頻之間)" and "Black Dog (黑犬默語) feat. Cy Leo", both charted Top 20 and the latter is still climbing.
