Curriculum: Bachelor of Engineering [Code: 6963 / A501 to A514]

The University Registration and Induction Programme for New Students will be held during August 17 to 25, 2021, depending on your curriculum of study. The Programme comprises three parts, namely Online Talk on Course Selection with Q&A, Faculty Induction Talk and Programme Induction Talk (if any) and CEDARS Non-Academic Induction Talk.

New undergraduates are required to register in advance and attend all three sessions to complete the University Registration and Induction Programme.

Online Talk on Course Selection with Q&A

Online Talk on Course Selection with Q&A will provide an opportunity for all freshmen to obtain information and ask questions in relation to course selection before the first day of course selection on August 20, 2021.

Faculty Talk

Date: August 17, 2021 (Tuesday)
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Registration Link: Online talk link will be sent to new students by your Faculty. Please check your HKU email for the online talk link. For enquiry, please contact your Faculty Office.
Remarks: In case of inclement weather, the online talk on course selection with Q&A will be rescheduled to Aug 18, 2021 at 10:00am.


Common Core Talk

Faculty Induction Talk and Programme Induction Talk

Faculty Induction talk will give you an overview of your study at HKU and university life including introduction to your Faculty and Departments, programme structure, important academic matters such as curriculum requirement, course selection and enrolment, Common Core courses, academic integrity, academic advisement and experiential learning opportunities.

Date: August 24, 2021 (Tuesday)
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Venue: Grand Hall

Registration:

  • Please register online and obtain your e-ticket in the form of a personalized QR code before attending the Faculty Induction Talk. You are required to show the QR code on your mobile phone at the entrance to the Talk.
  • You should register in advance by simply following the steps below to register for the Talk:
    1. Scan the following QR code with your mobile phone (or visit https://sweb.hku.hk/induction/)

    2. Log in with your HKU Portal UID (account name) and PIN (password) – please refer to your computer account notice email for details
    3. If you are eligible, your QR code is displayed.
  • The QR code is personalized for you and contains your University number. You should not share your QR code with other students. You can either take a screen capture of the QR code for showing at the entrance, or repeat the procedure above at any time to retrieve it.


    Remarks:
    Faculty Induction Talk will be cancelled in case of bad weather, with no make-up session.

    CEDARS Non-Academic Induction Talk

    The Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) provides new students with non-academic support and resources including new student adjustment and counselling support, support to students with disabilities and special educational needs (SEN Support), financial resources, housing, etc. CEDARS also offers co-curricular and out-of-classroom learning opportunities to students.     Student Body Registration & Hall Information Day

    New Students will visit your respective faculty societies to know more about the academic planning and get to know your fellow classmates. You will go around the campus to join clubs promoting different cultural, sports and other areas of interests. Students can also visit booths of different halls and join hall visits. Throughout the day, you can enroll for orientation activities by student societies/clubs.
