Step 4 - Application for Student Registration Card
The Student Registration Card will be issued free-of-charge upon your completion of the registration procedures.
After you have completed the online Master Registration, please go to the HKU Portal (http://www.hku.hk/portal -> Self Service -> Student Card Document Upload) to submit your photograph and supporting documents for the production of Student Registration Card. Please refer to the “Online Application for Student Registration Cards” for more information. An acknowledgment email will be sent to your HKU email account upon successful submission of both documents.
If you are a non-local student, or a student using a visa to study in Hong Kong (e.g. student visa, IANG visa, dependent visa, full-time employment visa, visa for Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, and visa for Capital Investment Entrant Scheme, etc.), you will need to submit your Visa, Landing slip and input the Visa expiry date via HKU Portal in the section “Compulsory Upload of Visa Docs”
A Student Registration Card collection email will be sent your student’s HKU email account from late August to September 2025. For non-local students and students using a visa to study in Hong Kong, they will only receive the Student Registration Card collection email after they have completed the visa upload step mentioned above.
To collect your Student Registration Card, you should bring along:
- the card collection email (in hard copy),
- the original identity documents for verification, such as HKID card/temporary HKID card/Passport/Exit and Entry Permit for travelling to or from Hong Kong and Macau, and
- the original and a photocopy of the Visa document (if appropriate).
