Corporate Social Responsibility: Buzzword or Business Imperative?
Recent instability experienced around the world has shown that the world is made up of interconnected ecological, social, and economic systems.  As a result, pressure on companies to operate responsibly is growing.  Should Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) be integral to a way a company develops its business?  This multi-component programme combining mentorship, lecture series, CEO panel discussion and internships will provide real-life local case studies from the business sector to support international concepts and theories around CSR and its various issues.  
 
This Programme aims to furnish students with CSR knowledge and skills as they embark on their careers in the business world.  Winter internship opportunities in Hong Kong’s leading companies will be given to a group of exceptional students who win the company specific project.
 
 
Meet Your Mentor (Oct 9 18:30-20:30) 
Each student will be assigned a mentor and they shall meet each other for the first time on Oct 9.  Mentors are invited from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Cisco, Community Business, KPMG, Prudential, Talent2, and Turner Broadcasting.  Students are expected to connect with their mentors proactively.

Student Project (Nov 7-23)
Participants will be divided into groups of 4-5 students.  Each group needs to submit a proposal to provide a solution based on the knowledge they have acquired from the lectures and present an executive summary to the companies themselves on Nov 23.  A group of exceptional students will be awarded internships at Hong Kong’s leading companies during the winter holiday.

In this session, speakers will talk about basic concepts of CSR, international standards and stakeholders engagement, with representatives from KPMG and CLP Power Hong Kong sharing the practice and experience of their companies. This is the first session of the lecture series entitled “Corporate Social Responsibility: Buzzword or Business Imperative”.
