Keen On Creating Beyond Imagination
Keen Lyricist Quest aims to enhance students’ interest and appreciation of the use of language in the art of lyrics writing, in both Chinese and English. Seasoned practitioners in the popular music industry are invited to share their experience and insights into creativity and lyrics writing in seminars and workshops.
Students will be invited to submit their works to the lyrics writing competition. The submission can be written based on existing pop songs (adaptation) or original music. All music genres are welcome.
The programme ends with a finale concert at HKU, where professional singers and student groups will be invited to perform the winning works; winners can also perform their own works.

《「堅詞」創作》在2022年9月及10月邀請了資深流行音樂作詞人在研討會和工作坊，分享他們在創意和歌詞創作方面的經驗和見解。
為進一步鼓勵創作歌詞及提高學生對中英文歌詞創作的興趣與欣賞，《「堅詞」創作》將舉辦歌詞創作比賽，提供學生一個平台，在校内發表作品。
歌詞創作比賽歡迎所有港大學生參加，學生可以就現有流行歌曲改編歌詞，或提交原創作品（包括詞曲），音樂種類不限。由專業評審挑選的優秀作品享有發表機會，在2023年的作品分享音樂會，《「堅詞」創作》將邀請專業歌手及學生團體表演得獎作品；另外得獎者也可以表演自己的作品。

To further encourage lyrics writing and enhance students’ interest and appreciation of the use of language in the art of lyrics writing, in both Chinese and English, Keen Lyricist Quest is going to organise a Lyrics Writing Competition to provide a platform for students to publish their works at HKU.
All HKU students are welcome to submit their works to the Lyrics Writing Competition. The submission can be written based on existing pop songs (adaptation) or original music. All music genres are welcome.
The outstanding works selected by the professional jury will be published at our Outstanding Works Showcase in 2023. Professional singers and student groups will be invited to perform the winning works; the winners can also perform their own works.

- This competition is open to HKU students only.
- The entries are divided into 2 groups – original and adaptation. The submission can be written based on existing pop songs (adaptation) or original music.
- All music genres are welcome. Language is limited to Chinese (Cantonese/Putonghua) or English.
- Each student can submit up to 2 entries, either be an individual work or a group work with a co-creator who is also a current HKU student.
- For group work, the maximum no. of students per group is 2. It can be a collaboration of lyrics or music plus lyrics. For example, student A collaborates with student B for writing lyrics in a group; student C creates music while student D writes lyrics in another group.
- Previously published works are not accepted.
- Any types of the following entries shall be disqualified in the competition:
- Any form of plagiarism
- Any entries that infringe the copyright of any third party
- Any entries that contain content of violence, obscenity and profanity
- Any entries that may be insulting, defamatory or discriminatory
- Any entries that may be be commercial-driven promoting someone, some products or services, etc.
- All final submissions may be published on the website, social media platforms, and /or other digital / web-based platforms of CEDARS-GE for promotional and archival purposes.
- In case of any disputes, CEDARS-GE reserves the right of final decision.

Bio of Instructor(s) 導師簡介:
   | 陳詠謙 Chan Wing Him 香港著名音樂人，已發表填詞作品超過500首。為人熟悉的有《高山低谷》、《反對無效》、《哪裡只得我共你》、《風的形狀》、《蒙著嘴說愛你》等等。 填詞以外，亦曾擔任多個台前幕後崗位，包括自組樂團、演唱會和音、唱片企劃、歌手、經理人、策展人等等。 |
   | 鄭敏 Cheng Man 香港填詞人。至今發表超過 40 首作品，包括《DWBF》、《時候不早》、《未開始己經結束》、《時間的初衷》等。 填詞以外，亦涉獵文字及多媒體創作。現於營銷策略顧問公司擔任創意總監。大學時期主修新聞系及中文系。 |
 | GhostStyle Ghost Style is a rapper/producer, who made the first English rap album in Hong Kong, Message Is Complete. He is also a member of the hip hop super group 24Herbs. He recently expanded his creativity to include painting and other art. He also works as an indie artist using his real name, Brandon Ho and has just released a chilled acoustic album, One. |
 | 黃靖 Jing Wong (Jing Wong Creations) Graduated as a Theatre Designer and Director in London's Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design with First Honours, Jing Wong went on to create a Fashion Theatre brand with his sister Kay called Daydream Nation in 2007. He has released a total of 7 album/eps and has toured 30 cities in China. He has played at Music Festivals such as the Clockenflap, Wow and Flutter, and Freespace. He was also invited to play in Adelaide's OZAsia Festival in 2016, Zandari Festival, and PAMS festival in Seoul 2017. His songs are featured in films by Ann Hui and Heiward Mak. He is also a keen educator who has taught young musicians regularly in events organised by the Renaissance Foundation and ‘Every Life is a Song.’ He has recently returned to his theatre roots, creating a One Man Music Theatre Show, A Spy in the House of Love, in November 2018 at Arts Centre, and a bigger scale Music x Tap x Theatre production, The Drifters, at the Cultural Centre in August 2021 funded by HAB’s Art Capacity Fund. Jing starts his PhD at The City University of Hong Kong this September, his chosen area being Interactive and Immersive Theatre performances inspired by Video and Board Games. |
 | 小克 Siu Hak 香港漫畫插畫家，亦是填詞人。1974年生於香港，1996年畢業於香港理工大學設計學院，修讀平面設計。2004年至2016年於流行雜誌《東TOUCH》連載漫畫專欄《偽科學鑑證》，並結集成同名漫畫共7冊，創造了「聾貓」、「Bitbit」、「維港巨星」等角色。 2008年開始為粵語流行曲填詞，較為人熟識的作品有周國賢的《有時》三部曲、MIRROR的《Innerspace》、姜濤的《鏡中鏡》及柳應廷的《物語》、《重生》三部曲等。 |
 | 呂甜 Tim Lui 畢業於香港中文大學新聞與傳播學院，為多媒體創作人，身兼填詞、編劇及短片導演等工作。2007年起發表第一首詞作，活躍至今，作品曾兩度獲得香港商業電台叱咤樂壇至尊歌曲大獎；亦曾入圍香港電影金像獎及台灣金馬獎最佳電影歌曲獎。曾為香港電台短劇擔任編劇，亦為ViuTV製作電視劇，擔崗編導工作。 |
