University Blood Donation Marathon @HKU

In collaboration with the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service, you are cordially invited to participate in the University Blood Donation Marathon @HKU to help support the blood supply in Hong Kong and save lives.  Interactive game booths hosted by MBBS students will be available on-site for participants on the Main Campus session.  In addition, blood donors will be treated to ice cream from on-site trucks on 7 October (2:00pm - 6:00pm) and 27 October (11:00am - 3:00pm) as a small token of our appreciation for their generosity and commitment.  Details are as follows:

Main Campus: Composite Building Foyer
Date: 6 - 7 October 2026 (Tue-Wed)
Time: 11:30am - 6:00pm

Date: 26 - 27 October, 2026 (Tue - Wed)
Time: 10:00am - 5:00pm

Walk-ins are also welcome on the day.

[Important Notes]
Before blood donation
  • Get sufficient sleep the night prior to the donation
  • Consume food within 4 hours prior to the donation
  • Drink sufficient water
  • Consider rescheduling your donation appointment if are feeling unwell, undergoing treatment or awaiting test results, or had fever within two weeks before the donation day 
 On the day of blood donation
  • Present your HKID Card or a valid travel document for identity verification
  • Bring along a signed parent/guardian consent form if you are under the age of 18
  • Wear clothing with loose sleeves
  • Inform the duty nurse if you are taking any medication
  • Take note of blood donation information related to travelling history or residence abroad
  • Follow on-site infection control measures
