The Law Applies to All Imports

Importing prohibited/controlled items, whether in person or through e‐commerce platforms, is a violation of the law.

Drugs and Medicines

Dangerous Drugs: Etomidate, Cannabis (including Cannabidiol (CBD) products), Cocaine etc.
*Max. Fine of HK$5 million & Life Imprisonment

Part I Poison: Zopiclone, Sildenafil (Viagra) etc.
*Max. Fine of HK$100,000 & 2‐year Imprisonment

Antibiotics: Erythromycin, Penicillin etc.
*Max. Fine of HK$30,000 &12‐month Imprisonment

Weapons, Firearms & Dangerous Goods
Arms & Ammunition: arms & ammunition, including specified firearm component parts
*Max. Fine of HK$100,000 & 14‐year Imprisonment

Weapons: gravity knife, gravity‐operated steel baton, knuckleduster etc.
*Max. Fine of HK$10,000 & 3‐year Imprisonment

Dangerous Goods: fireworks & explosives etc.
*Max. Fine of HK$200,000 & 12‐month Imprisonment

Endangered Species
Animals: Seahorses, Tigers, Rhinoceros, Elephants etc.
Plants: Orchid, American Ginseng, Agarwood, etc.
Whether alive, dead, its parts (e.g. pangolin scales, rhino horns,ivory), or derivatives (including medicines, e.g. tiger bone liquor) may be subject to control

Animals & Plants
Animals, Plants, Soil & Plant Pests: Dogs, Cats, Birds, Grasshoppers, Plants etc.

Prohibited Food Items
Game, Meat, Poultry and Eggs: Beef, Pork, Chicken, Crocodile, Eggs etc.

Alternative Smoking Products
Including a device, its component or accessory,
e.g. heated tobacco sticks, “e‐liquid” and herbal cigarettes
*Max. Fine of HK$2 million & 7‐year Imprisonment

Tobacco and Alcoholic Liquor
Incoming passengers carrying any tobacco or alcoholic liquor exceeding their exempted quantities should proceed to the Red Channel and make a declaration to the Customs officers

A passenger aged 18 or above is allowed to bring into HK free of duty, for his / her own use:
• 1 litre of alcoholic liquor with an alcoholic strength above 30%; and
• 19 cigarettes; or
• 1 cigar or 25 grams of cigars; or
• 25 grams of other manufactured tobacco

Immediately report to Hong Kong Customs any approaches or solicitations to smuggle controlled /prohibited items into Hong Kong
