Dear Students and Colleagues, HKU Catering: Closure of Ho Tim Hall Restaurant (January 4-10, 2016) Due to the revamp of ceiling, the Ho Tim Hall Restaurant located at Jockey Club Student Village I will be closed from January 4, 2016 (Monday) to January 10, 2016 (Sunday). The Restaurant will resume service on January 11, 2016 (Monday) at 11:00 a.m. Should you have any queries regarding the above arrangement, please feel free to contact Mr. Sam Poon, Catering Manager atcatering@cedars.hku.hk. Dear Students and Colleagues, HKU Catering: Updates on Campus Catering Services (HKJCBIR Cafeteria, BIJAS Vegetarian) 1. HKJCBIR Cafeteria The contract with the current operator of the cafeteria (viz. Knockbox Coffee Company) located at 4/F of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Building for Interdisciplinary Research (HKJCBIR) at No.5 Sassoon Road will be ended on October 15, 2015 (Thursday). The cafeteria will be closed after its operation on this date. 2. Breakfast Service at BIJAS Vegetarian (Centennial Campus) Vegetarian breakfast is now available at BIJAS Vegetarian! Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (Monday – Friday). Please refer to here for the menu. Dear Students and Colleagues, "Bring Your Own Mug" Campaign at Selected HKU Catering Outlets
To advocate waste reduction, the University has joined the "Bring Your Own Mug" campaign organized by the Conservancy Association (長春社). As one of the participating Institutions of the "Bring Your Own Mug Alliance", from October 1 to December 31, 2015, concessions will be offered to customers who bring their own mugs / tumblers when purchasing certain takeaway beverage at the following catering outlets on campus. Conditions applied and please approach the respective eateries for details. 1. Dear Students and Colleagues, HKU Catering: Bay View Restaurant, Ho Tim Hall Restaurant, JCSV-II Restaurant, and Summer Operation Hours 1. Bay View Restaurant The contract with the current operator – Sailing Boat Catering Management Ltd., has been terminated and the last day of operation by Sailing Boat will be 29/05/2015 (Friday). Commencing from 01/06/2015 (Monday), temporary lunch box service ($28 per box w/o drink) will be provided by Asia Pacific Catering Corporation Ltd. during 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday) at the Bay View Restaurant. There will be further announcement on the regular catering service at this site in due course. . 2. Ho Tim Hall Restaurant and Jockey Club Student Village II Restaurant The contract with the current operator – Jexon Development Ltd., is due to expire on 31/05/2015. An open tender exercise was conducted earlier in April 2014 for the selection of operator for both Restaurants. Official announcement of the award of contract would be made after the official procedures are completed. The last day of operation by the current operator at both locations will be 29/05/2015 (Friday) and the sites will be closed afterwards for minor renovation. It is expected that the both Restaurants will be re-opened in July 2015. 3. Summer Operation Hours of Catering Outlets Please refer to the following link for the special operation hours of campus catering outlets in June and July 2015. Dear Students and Colleagues, Contamination of Smoked Salmon by Listeria monocytogenes Incident Referring to the recent food safety alert issued by the Centre of Food Safety (CFS) on the possible contamination of smoked salmon by Listeria monocytogenes, CEDARS has inquired all contract caterers shortly after the announcement by CFS and was given to understand that FOUR of our caterers listed below ordered the smoked salmon manufactured by the concerned supplier - Polyfood Food Service Co. Ltd. For the sake of customer safety, all four affected caterers have ceased selling the products containing smoked salmon immediately after the announcement of the CFS and all caterers, except Grove Café, have already switched to other suppliers for smoked salmon and resumed sale of the concerned products. Grove Café (Centennial Campus) will resume the sale of the affected products once they have selected the alternative supplier. CEDARS will keep the University community informed if there is further development on this incident. |

Dear Students and Colleagues, [IMPORTANT] Suspension of Catering Services of CYMAC Restaurant, Café 330 and FRU:YO Factory on April 5, 2015 (Sun) Due to the statutory inspection of the low voltage electrical installation of Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre by the Estates Office, electricity supply will be temporarily suspended from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 5, 2015 (Sun). The three catering outlets in the Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre - CYMAC Restaurant (Maxim's Food2), Café 330 and FRU:YO Factory will be affected and CLOSED on that day. Normal services will be resumed on April 6, 2015 (Mon). |
