Starr Hall, to Starrians, provides a chance for personal advancement. In Starr Hall, Hallmates are entitled to freedom of choice —— right to choose what to participate in, and thus, they can choose what responsibilities to take up. By picking up various duties, we hope Starrians can appreciate one’s strengths, discover weaknesses and step out of their comfort zones in order to become better selves. Also, Starr Hall is supportive to Starrians who wish to share their interests in the Hall, such as sports or cultural activities and also academic or intellectual exchange. This open-minded environment provides Starrians with a non-interfered space to completely emerge in their innovations and fully explore their potentials. Another unique feature of Starr Hall is its composition of various nationalities and cultures.
Starrians are encouraged to interact with each other through units, teams, and
Hall activities. In the process of participating in different Hall affairs,
Hallmates can learn from each other and, hence, achieve personal growth and
practice interpersonal skills. Starrians are exposed to opportunities to engage
in social services and current affairs discussions. During their residential
life here in Starr, Starrians develop communication skills, civil awareness, as
well as significant relationships.
In addition to participation in Hall activities, we believe
that succession is another major
responsibility borne by every Starrian. We wish to preserve and pass on Hall
values, history and traditions —— Hall songs, cheers and so on —— and therefore
